HSJ Accountants support pays off as Newport’s Girl Cricketers complete a unique UK ‘Winners Double’

Newport Cricket Club’s Girl cricketers completed a unique ‘double’ by winning the Lady Taverners UK National titles at both U13 and U15 age groups. The girls, who have benefitted from a generous sponsorship from HSJ accountants, who supported the Girls winter coaching programme, swept all before them at the two National Finals Days at Leamington Cricket Club.

U13 Lady Taverners National Finals

Having already beaten Port Talbot, Fairford and Tarka (Devon) in previous rounds Newport won through to the Lady Taverners National Finals at Leamington Cricket Club. At the UK Finals Day, Newport U13 Girls retained the Lady Taverners UK National U13 Championship which they also won in 2013. A convincing win against Narborough & Littlethorpe (Leicestershire) in the semi final, saw the girls reach the UK Final where they beat Enfield (London) to become UK Champions for the second year running.

‘To win one UK title was fantastic, but to become UK Champions at both age groups was incredible. The girls have worked hard in training since October and have been rewarded for their fantastic work ethic by becoming ‘Double UK Champions’. Everyone at the Club is very proud of them. We’re also very grateful to HSJ accountants for their continued support of the girls’
