HSJ Proudly Support the ION Youth Health & Wellness Initiative
With the school summer holidays over, and with it the close of the 2025 ION Youth Health & Wellness Initiative.
Over the summer, ION Strength and Conditioning delivered more than 50 hours of free physical activity sessions, reaching over 1,000 young people. This initiative is part of ION’s ongoing social value mission:. ‘To ensure that children and teens from all backgrounds have access to high-quality physical activity that supports their physical and mental wellbeing.’
Once again, the programme proved to be a resounding success. By removing financial and transport barriers, ION made physical activity truly accessible to all, helping to build healthier, more active communities
Robin Sowden-Taylor, Director at ION Strength & Conditioning, shared some of the summer’s standout moments:
- A fantastic turnout in Llanrumney for the 11–14-year-old sessions. Welsh Rugby international Shane Lewis-Hughes joined to coach over 25 enthusiastic youngsters.
- Consistently strong attendance from the Additional Learning Needs group, who showed remarkable progress week after week.
- A significant rise in participation in the Teenage Girls Strength & Conditioning programme. This is especially encouraging outcome given the common drop-off in physical activity among girls during key developmental years.
Robin added:
“We’re deeply passionate about making a positive impact in our local community. Even if it’s just a ripple in the pond. We believe in doing what we can to support the next generation’s physical and mental wellbeing. Something that’s more important than ever given the challenges we face as a society. Alongside our dedicated ION coaching team, we were fortunate to have a group of top-level external coaches supporting our community sessions across the city. These were led by Ben Rose, whose contribution I’m hugely grateful for.”
HSJ Accountants were proud to stand alongside many other local businesses in supporting this vital initiative. We believe in the power of community and are committed to helping create opportunities to promote health, inclusion, and positive futures for young people.
