Pratik adds up the numbers to accounting success

Twenty-three year old Pratik Desai from Rogerstone has joined South Wales-based HSJ Accountants under its new graduate training programme.

Pratik, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Mathematics in 2011 from the Royal Holloway University of London, will now be working as a trainee accountant at the company whilst completing his studies for the ACCA qualification at Newport University.

He said: “I’ve always loved Maths and understood its importance in everyday life early on. By doing a BSc. Degree, I can now fully appreciate the applications of the subject within business and finance. This has also inspired me to take it further and study for the ACCA qualification which would ultimately give me chartered accountant status.”

He added: “By joining HSJ Accountants in Newport, I am able to study and work close to home whilst gaining valuable work experience. I am also able to pursue my interest in taxation whilst working and learning alongside some very well-respected tax experts within HSJ Accountants.”

Commenting on the programme Ben Masters, Director at HSJ Accountants said: “Our three-year structured graduate development programme for ACCA trainees includes on-the-job training, practical skills courses and the ongoing support of a mentor.

“This is a great way for us to identify talented business, finance or accountancy graduates such as Pratik and help them to gain the necessary professional skills. To match our growth plans, we will need additional staff and we hope to find new team members by extending our graduate training programme on an annual basis, any interested candidates can find information on our dedicated careers section at www.hsjaccountants.co.uk/careers.
