Experienced Practice Accountant

We are looking for an experienced accountant that can consider our clients’ needs and help them make the best of their position with planning and foresight. This is a full time, permanent role with real development opportunities for the successful candidate.

The role will include (but is not limited to) the following tasks:-

  • Preparing, finalising and submitting statutory financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies to include business appraisal and identification of business development opportunities.
  • Strong focus on planning for a client to help them identify tax saving measures, business opportunities and other factors affecting their personal wealth.
  • Preparing management accounts and forecasts.
  • Preparing tax calculations and associated corporate tax compliance.
  • Preparation and control of VAT compliance and preparation.
  • Supporting client managers with client service and job management.
  • Supporting the training and development of practice trainees.
  • Some audit support fieldwork from time to time.

A broad range of skills will be required to fulfil this role. The successful candidate will be provided with all the relevant training to integrate into the HSJ team and culture.

Experience, skills and attributes;

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years practice experience
  • Experience and a good working knowledge of small business tax regime
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good working knowledge of Xero cloud software
  • Experience and knowledge of statutory accounts production packages (Digita or similar).

Semi Senior Accountant

We are a forward thinking, digitally focussed firm of accountants and we are looking to expand our team.

We want talented, enthusiastic and driven individuals to apply for this full time position.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who:-

  • Is currently working as a semi senior
  • Has completed AAT
  • Is currently studying towards ACCA.

The Role

The successful candidate will receive top quality training and support from a professional, experienced team of accountants, providing a variety of work experience.

Duties and tasks will include:-

  • Processing accounting records
  • Analysis of receipts and payments
  • Analysis of creditors and debtors
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Preparation of accounts for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Preparation of working papers to support a set of accounts with relevant control account reconciliations
